Cassandra is an online-only zine (for now) that critically examines the future, one topic at a time, without fear, favor, or hysteria. We know that the future is always the consequence of the Now, and this Now is a complicated time – one of the most complicated since we humans decided to try this civilization thing.
We seek to make talking about hard things less scary, but always real. Cassandra is place to think complexly about the future, without either the doomerism, or a panglossian sheen.
We're creating good information that people can use to help themselves and each other live through this turbulent period of Earth's history. Cassandra is meant to both comfort and warn, and when we can, equip our readers with tools for coping with and even improving the future we're all barreling into. We want our readers to see that what humanity believes now is going to shape the lives of people who don't exist yet, but will one day call us ancestors.
Each issue has a theme, and writers, artists, poets, and other creators who work around that theme. We will look towards in both the near and far term. We're publishing thoughtful and deep look at topics that matter in the future, anchored in the present. We look forward, but with a weather eye.
